The 3rd upper secondary school of Volos is one of the most centrally located schools in the town of Volos in central Greece. It is one of the oldest schools in the town. It is a general secondary school with 25 staff and almost 260 students.

At secondary level of education, pursuing the achievement of competences is top priority, it becomes essential to find the most suitable activities and methods to facilitate students’ process of achievement, despite any social, cultural or economic obstacles they may encounter in this path. The use of multimedia tools has therefore become quite ordinary in our daily class teaching practice, as well as the realization of videos, powerful tools to make students share important ethical messages and to make them active protagonists in producing their own way of interpreting them. Our school also belongs to a larger territorial network of schools which have been financed to train teachers to use multimedia technologies to develop students’ competences in Literacy, Maths and Science with the goal to foster the teaching/learning process.
At the national level we are involved in projects in the field of social work, personnal assistance, projects focusing on healthy lifestyle, cultural and environmental issues.
At the international level we participated in a Comenius-Partnership of schools with the topic “ the 4 Elements and their affect in our lifes” which was successfully implemented last August.
There is a team of dedicated teachers that run the activities. We try to increase students’ interest and motivation to learn technical subjects and practice ICT, by giving the opportunity to take part in workshops and by visiting museums and research centers.

Video about bullying

ABOUT US >

In the project, we expect to tackle bullying in schools which is a rapidly rising phenomenon in Europe. The project also aims to support schools to deal with the problem of early school leaving. Students are provided to learn how to recognise bullying and effectively deal with either being the victim or the bystander. Three transnational  project meetings (TPM) and four learning/teaching/training activities (LTT) in each participant country are dedicated to concrete issues of the main subject matter, bullying.Another vital importance is to get consciousness that there are different people, cultures, languages and expectations, but that would be considred as a starting point to find common issues to better our consciousness of being European citizens. Final but maybe the most important priority is the inclusive educational method supporting to build equality and non-discrimination, and promote the competences of students who are especially with special education needs (SEN).
